It has been a busy, busy, super busy time for me. School just started and I am trying mighty hard to get in the swing of things (#lalalessonplanning), but randomly wonderful opportunities keep cropping up. 

Poor foodie ventures has suffered for all the new, exciting things going on.

Sometimes, I think about it, though, food and language. What food and language arts (my subject this year) have in common—the practice of writing and eating, the idea of imagination in words and on the plate.

There is a lot of commonality: fluidity, construction, careful planning, articulation, layering and poetry. There is hard work and dedication, structure and rules.  Editing and removing, polishing and revising.

Both leave room for creativity, nothing but confines for limitless freedom.  Crafting food and words leave you vulnerable and exposed.
