Seed Gallery, in the heart of Newark, was brimming with yelp elites and their plus ones to celebrate Wednesday and local food businesses. The new art and event space proved to be a great venue to feature the food and beer sponsors and allow room to dance to the rockin set by DJ Amanda of Hells Kitchen lounge while admiring the art of Gizem Bacaz, Seed Gallery's owner and organizer. Her unique mix of abstract and landscape illuminated the walls with fluorescent colors and bright details, echoing the childhood pastels of the sidewalk chalk of the haiku wall set up by Jersey City’s Haiku Mistress from the Guerilla Haiku Movement.

Le Bretzel hailing from Elizabeth, offered sweet and savory pretzels blending pretzel ideals using only all natural ingredients. The buttery and almost flaky pretzels combine that sweetness and cakey texture of the typical mall variety and the salty New York style pretzel.

Vonda’s Kitchen of  Newark, served up healthy doses of creamy baked Mac and cheese, the epitome of comfort food. The rep also dished up a twist of another familiar favorite--- chips and dip, only these were fresh homemade blue corn chips and a scoop of black eyed pea dip, savory and hearty. It was totally a crowd pleaser.

Even Stella’s Empanadas from Kearny passed out a wide variety of the turnovers, featuring their four top sellers-- corn, beef spicy chicken and mushroom and spinach. The beef empanada was meaty and saucy with spikes with briny green olives, while the corn had oozing cheese and corn studding the filling of the soft dough.

As a yelp staple, Carlo’s Bakery representatives doled out delectable cake samples -- red velvet and carrot cakes with tangy cream cheese frosting along with a moist white cake topped with a rich chocolate buttercream. Yet, the famous decadent cannoli were out far before the mid way point of the event.

Climax Brewing helped guests wet their whistle with craft beers in a variety of flavors, ranging from an Indian Pale Ale to a Nut Brown Ale. There was a continuous line for the tasty beverages as the cold beers helped to cool the crowd.

It was a great meeting of food and people, where yelp elites munched on local goodies while socializing with like-minded people. The event allowed old yelp friends to get together as well as meet new ones.
