re. CAP: YELP Wine & Tapas at Spuntino

RER 7.14.15

Last Tuesday night, Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas in Clifton was brimming with Yelp Elites and their plus ones.

The yelpers were treated to yummy light bites like a fresh beet watercress salad, ahi tuna with watermelon, and yellow tomatoes topped with house-made mozzarella.

We sampled sinful pork belly, garlicky spaghetti pomodoro, and hot pizza with an assortment of toppings. Each offering representing the eatery was delicious and paired delightfully with an adult libation (read: wine and beer).

A little bourbon tasting including three different varieties was also available for the yelpers. The night culminated in four flavors of gelato and strong espresso. It was good food and a yelping time.

Even amongst a sea of changes, one thing remains constant in my life— eating. So when things shift, opportunities arise, and feelings fade, food brings comfort and familiarity.

So, I let it.

Making stir-fry with Mommie kept me on my toes, but I was excited to eat the crispy veggies and tender meat drenched in sweet and spicy sauce blanketing sesame scented rice.

I indulged in sweet things that made my teeth quiver with happiness while allowing a warmth to rush over me and a smile to bend. Like chocolate Mini- Course Cupcakes strewn with all of the imagination of children and soft chocolate chip cookies, bedazzled with rainbow sprinkles and sunshine.

At the Alumni- Faculty BBQ that I helped to plan, somehow, in the warm air heavy with smoke, the food was bright and refined, exceeding my cookout expectations. Beautiful vegetables gleamed in the afternoon light while burgers hissed and sizzled on the lazy big jon grill.

Yelp events really know how to make a girl happy, whisking her away to eat her memories of a simpler time at Johnny Rockets in Hoboken. Fries and onion rings quickly brought me back to elementary school field trips and failed first days of work. But burgers and buns and Oreo milkshakes made the present worth it.

A pasta moment of appreciation warmed teachers’ bellies and the company made it delicious.

Follow the food on instagram, facebook, and yelp.

A tasty happy hour at Buddakan in Caesars ended our Atlantic City adventures for Yelp’s Spring Break.
We slowly sipped full-bodied cocktails, some hot with jalapeno and gin, others smooth with an array of sweet fruit flavors, and others still, floral with lychee and sake.

We gorged on slippery dumplings bursting with spicy beef or gingered chicken or even pureed edamame with traces of truffle.

We had crunchy chicken and shrimp spring rolls and crunchy tempura vegetables, sweet, meaty and green.

And we finished with cinnamon sugar dusting our lips, residual from tiny dough pockets filled with a light cream paired with tangy sweet banana sauce.
Thanks AC (and my plus one) for the amazing time per usual!

RER 3.7.15
Oh yea, we brunched at The Continental in Caesars, along with plenty of other yelpers as the eatery was offering a special deal for the Yelp Spring Break event
RER 3.7.15
Our boozy brunch started off with two very vibrant orange drinks: a fizzy mimosa for the mister and a peachy sweet astronaut for me.
RER 3.7.15

There was thick French toast with vanilla sweet butter and tart tangy raspberry compote. Not quite like our French toast, but it still stood up to the brunch staple with ease.

Hot heuvos rancheros was served up in a mini skillet, flooded with spicy bean and chorizo chili and perfectly fried eggs served atop a crunchy corn tostada. There was a little avocado crema and chunky salsa to cool the tongue.
RER 3.7.15
To top it all off, a set of six French onion soup dumplings seared the roofs of our mouths with hot cheese and even hotter soup with stringy onions inside of the savory pouch.

The Continental offered us a lovely start to an extremely delicious day.
