We headed to Union Square on a quest for medieval costume pieces for an upcoming birthday celebration. Just down the street from our costume destination, is a food spot my friend and I have been to a few times before for a quick breakfast and a little lunch. Because of its proximity and its different menu, we decided to go to Max Brenner for a late lunch and much needed catch up session. My first time, I was not enthusiastic, but the smells of chocolates, chili and cocoa dusted waffle fries and the plethora of sweet things brought me back. It feels like a café that would be in the middle of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory, serving up comforting foods with a twist, a waffle here and cocoa powder there. This time, I was happy with the food, but the service was severely lacking. Take a peek at the pretty eats and check out my yelp review for more of the deets!

You know, just a little lunch at Little Town in Hoboken. With what’s deemed as local fare ranging from fried “mutz” to disco fries to burgers and other sandwiches, we tried a little bit of everything. Check out my yelp review for more of the little details.

Otaiko Hibachi and Sushi Lounge is definitely an interesting place. A Hibachi and Sushi spot in a strip mall, in Bayonne, to top it all off. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. But instead it is oddly enchanting, and truly delicious-- strong drinks, smoking hibachi, scrumptious sushi and sly udon noodles. See more of the deets in my yelp review.

It was a chilly Saturday night my yelp app proved most useful as it led us to 9th & Coles Tavern when we wanted to try something new but comfortable. Though the food felt like it took forever and there was a little mix up, the staff was nice and the signature burger was amazing. The neighborhood bar has its ups and downs, but see it all in my yelp review.

Not all burgers are created equal, this is a fact that we face every single day (I wish). I love burgers, especially burgers with options, toppings, weird combos, and bacon, so I was really looking forward to my adventure at Bareburger. But somehow, something fell short. Check out my yelp review for the run down.

I never really do this, but I created a list of pros and cons for the literally beautiful Beauty & Essex for my yelp review. I have seen in many yelp reviews lists like this, and in some ways my list was less pros and cons, but more delicious and unappealing, smashingly memorable and lacking character, highlights and lackluster. We went to the LES staple for one of my good friend's birthday, and I was excited. The food was perhaps as eye catching and mouth watering as the space, with its refined black dark décor and its beautiful people. Beauty & Essex is a place to see and be seen, but not necessarily order mains. For more, check out my “pros and cons” list yelp review.

This weekend celebrating Appetite, presented by the Count Basie Theatre, also allowed us to explore the culinary canvas of Red Bank, New Jersey. After a local (or two) recommended trying out Basil T’s, owned by local food favorite, Victor Rallo of Eat! Drink! Italy!, we gave it a go. Check out my thoughts on the classic Italian spot in my yelp review. Plus, stay tuned for more foodie ventures from the Appetite weekend.

Well now, sometimes there are happy coincidences and sometimes not. This one at Cityside Bistro in Jersey City was a bit of a mix. Coincidence: we stumbled onto the bar restaurant headed out for dinner at another for Hudson Restaurant Week (stay tuned for more), only to find out that Cityside Bistro was participating too. Coincidence: two bistros in one evening. See more in my yelp review.
